The Winston

We decided to go out for dinner last night since the weather was so nice and it’s the last weekend before I start my new job.

We went to the Winston in Norman and sat on their patio. It was lovely 🥰

Ben and I enjoyed their garlic cheese flatbread so much we ordered it twice. The grilled cheese and tomato soup was also LEGIT. I would skip the tuna main though, it was too salty for my taste.

Just Thought You Should Know

Last night when Ben got off work we all got ready to head out for dinner. I had texted him social capital…? when he was on his way home.

We ordered our usual chicken nachos, Ben also got a fajita chicken taco but the elotes…. WOW I could eat that all day every day.

I told him when we were sat on the patio enjoying our food that it reminded me of our dates we used to have when we first met.

The thing is though, last night was so much better than the early dates. We had Tove with us, Ben drank a Topo Chico since he was driving and I had one canned wine (which got me tipsy 🤪) and we were so much more content. I didn’t feel the NEED to drink more or stay out later because I had everything that matters to me.

I’m so proud of Ben as a father and thankful he’s my partner in all of this. We’ve been through a lot together that’s tested our relationship but never once has he given me a reason to doubt his commitment to me and now us. I love you so much babe and I’m honored to give you the chance to create the most special daddy-daughter bond. I love my dad more than words can say and I just know in my heart that Tove is going to feel the same way about you. Thank you for making us feel loved and for rolling with the punches… quite literally when Tove gets at ya 😛

Haywire

Tuesday marks the end of my maternity leave so before starting work again I decided to take a trip to Dallas.

Ben and I are so lucky as parents, Tove doesn’t mind her car seat at all and she’s already a socialite at restaurants. She’s never been fussy or even attempted to make a scene so we decided to meet Taylor and her fiancé Blake for dinner on Saturday night at a restaurant called Haywire. It’s located at Legacy West in Plano and serves new American cuisine.

We had an early reservation and if the hostess hadn’t left us standing off to the side for 14 minutes while our table was ready I would have nothing but positive things to say about our experience. Taylor had booked the reservation and got us a perfect table upstairs on the patio overlooking the stage/courtyard area. We got lucky with the weather as well, so I wasn’t all hot and bothered 😅

We started with the “chefs 4” which included mini Elk tacos, queso, giant onion rings, and fried tomatoes. All of which was delicious. I’m normally not a huge fan of onion rings but man they were good.

For the main I got a lighter fare, the grilled Caesar salad and a side but Ben went for a bone in 18oz steak and he was VERY pleased with how it turned out. He was even picking the meat from the bone once he was ‘done’ eating 😅.

Next time I’m getting the snapper. Blake got it and it looked so good. Oh and definitely try the Mac and cheese at Haywire, it’s flavorful and the texture is on point.

Social Capital

I haven’t had too many opportunities to explore OKC yet but I will say my favorite patio bar so far has got to be Social Capital across from Scissortail Park. If you enjoy craft beer or great views then this place is a must visit!

My mom and I discovered Rose Wine Water on one of her first visits to OKC, and now it’s a must have. It’s a rose wine mixed with water and it’s refreshing as heck! Ben and I abstained from drinking, le duh for me, but we sure did drink up the atmosphere.

Now that the weather is getting warmer it feels even better to be able to enjoy being outside, even it’s still windy in OKC all the time. Plus those views of Devon Tower are GORGEOUS as the sun begins to set.

Social Capital has two levels, the inside downstairs is a bit too loud for my liking but if you want food- that’s where it’s at. Their nachos always go down a treat. There’s plenty of seating downstairs outside; I feel like that’s where most families tend to stay.

Then there’s the rooftop patio bar, me likey! It has a gorgeous view of Scissortail Park, which is literally one of my favorite parts of OKC. Bonus- there’s a dog park at Scissortail Park as well if you need to tire out your pup before visiting Social Capital.

The Collective

My parents drove up from Dallas to OKC last weekend for a quick visit before they went on vacay in Mexico. So last Saturday we met for brunch at The Collective in Midtown.

Ben and I went once before and it’s a neat spot. The Collective is a food hall with different options to choose from; tacos, salads, Hawaiian fusion, sweets, coffee, a big ol bar, and more. They also have a rooftop area I have yet to see, and their patio is dog friendly 🤗. It wasn’t the best weather when we went so we sat inside by the bar.

I hate these pictures of me but sharing is caring, right? I think we were all hungry because none of us got pictures of our food 😅. Ben and my dad got some Phill Me Up Cheesesteaks and mom and I both chose The Salad Bowl. We also got some samples from Big Buns Bakery and their cinnabomb was just that, the bomb.

The Collective feels like an influencers dream to go to. They have artwork hanging on the walls for sale on the lower floor and the ladies bathroom is also very chic, so bring your camera for some pics with the girls when you gotta go.

Felt like there was a clear message to my baby girl written on the wall. Plus I loooooove their “I’ll be ready in a Prosecco” poster in the bathroom as well.

Can’t wait to go back when the weather is warmer, so we can enjoy the outside spaces and I can indulge in a mimosa… or two 😋.
