Mini Me

I’ve been trying to teach Tove how to wear sunglasses and yesterday I finally got her to wear them for slightly longer than 15 seconds.

Tove wore her sunglasses just long enough for Ben to snap a pic of us! She threw them on the ground the second we started walking though🤪

It’s Her Right

Tove and I went to the women’s protest at the state capitol here in Oklahoma City again today. If Roe vs. Wade gets overturned we have decided as a family to make a plan to leave this country.

Hopefully by the time Tove is sexually active/menstruating I will have a resume that allows for me to seek employment abroad.

There were some great signs and speeches made this AM, I’m just ashamed I birthed a daughter here in Oklahoma of all places. 🙃

“White, religious, cis, men do not represent me.”

“There is something greater than gods will and that is my will.”

Oklahoma State Capitol Abortion Ban Protest

Today, for my first Mother’s Day with Tove being outside of my womb, we went to an abortion ban protest at the state capitol.

I can’t look into Tove’s eyes and tell her that she doesn’t have the same rights as a boy and that she doesn’t matter, because she does.

There were about 50-60 people at the protest. It was heartwarming hearing the cars honk on the underpass as we cheered them on with our signs.

I loved what one woman had wrote, “a quality man does not fear equality.”

I’m so proud for Tove to have a father that understands she should have bodily autonomy, and that it’s her right as a woman to make whatever medical decisions are necessary to her.

It’s terrifying thinking about how women might be punished under these new laws and it’s so unjust I couldn’t just be a keyboard warrior anymore.

Bricktown Canal

Ben and I took Tove to Bricktown yesterday afternoon and took a stroll around the canal.

A bit windy like always but the spring weather was quite nice!

We stopped at Heyday for a refresher and thought we lost Tove’s pacifier for a good second. ALAS it was under her stroller and we were all good.

Imola GP 2022

Watching the formula 1 race while Tove takes her morning nap.

The rain is fitting as we had storms last night as well. Luckily no tornados 🌪 even though we bunkered down in the laundry room for a bit while we were under a watch warning.

What a frustrating season for Mercedes and Hamilton. Looks like it’s gonna be a seasonal fight between Leclerc and Verstappen…?

Syrup.

Ben’s off work today, which isn’t the usual so we decided to go out for brunch. We packed up little lady and drove down to Main St. in Norman. I let Ben decide between Neighborhood Jam and Syrup and he chose the latter!

Tove enjoyed her banana stick while mom and dad got to eat. I ordered the home sweet homa with crunchy French toast 🤤.

If you’re into sweets, Syrup is definitely the brunch you’re looking for they have so many different waffle, pancake, and French toast options. Plus their coffee menu is LEGIT as well.

Work From Anywhere

Decided to meet Michael at the Dell campus in OKC today to work “in person” since we’ve got the option to do so.

Was a bit of a ghost town but good to get out of the house nonetheless.

I’ll be back up there again on Tuesday next week to meet some of my classmates in person for the first time …after having been on zoom together for 8 hours a day the last THREE months!

This virtual world really is becoming reality.

Hoppy Easter

We found one of those eggs on lawn during our morning walk yesterday and I ignored it assuming they were from a parent who had set up an Easter egg hunt for their child.

Turns out our neighborhood is full of children, and well the above image makes that more true than I had initially believed to be the case.

Anyways- Happy Easter from Oklahoma 🤪😅🐣

The Future is Female

Yet here we are living in a man’s world. I cried ugly tears while getting ready and watching the news this morning. Oklahoma passed a total abortion ban.

Was I planning on getting an abortion? No. Should I have that right? 100% yes.

I can no longer raise my daughter in this state because I will not deny her those BASIC rights. Nor will I ever subject her to having to carry the burden if she were to be raped. Fucking ludicrous.

Religion has no place in politics- especially not in the 20th century.

That being said, women in Saudi Arabia actually have more rights than in Texas, Oklahoma and Kentucky.

Abortion in Saudi Arabia is legal; In cases of risk to a woman’s life, fetal impairment, or to protect her physical and mental health. Pregnancy arising from incest or rape also qualify for a legal abortion under the mental health exemption. Oh AND she has four months to get it in these cases.

So we’re actively working on a 5-10 year plan that hopefully gets us out of this state before it’s too late… ✌🏼
